What it's saying, in English
Hi, I'm Voq. I read the web out loud, so your eyes can take a break. ChatGPT answers, Reddit threads, long articles: one click, and I'll read them to you in a natural voice. I speak many languages, I'm completely free, and there's no account to create. Listen while you cook, commute, or just rest. If reading feels like work, let me do it for you. Add Voq to Chrome and hear any page in seconds.
How Voq reads Spanish
A natural Spanish voice
Voq uses Google Cloud AI voices, so Spanish sounds like a person reading, not a robot. The Spanish voice has a Spain (Castilian) accent.
Detects Spanish on its own
Open a Spanish page and press play. Voq recognises the language automatically, so you never switch settings when you move between English and Spanish pages.
Highlights each word
Words light up as they are read, so you can follow along — useful when the text is in a language you are still learning.

Spanish, read aloud: what to know
Spanish is spoken by more than 635 million people, according to the Instituto Cervantes. A few things are worth knowing before you listen.
- Spelling matches sound. Spanish is written almost exactly as it is spoken, so text to speech reads it more reliably than languages like English or French.
- "Gracias" with a "th" or an "s". In most of Spain, "z" and a soft "c" (before e or i) sound like the English "th" — "gracias" sounds like "grathias". In Latin America and the Canary Islands they sound like "s". This is the difference you will notice most between voices.
- "Ll" and "y". Most speakers today say "ll" and "y" the same way. In Argentina and Uruguay both sound closer to "sh" — "calle" sounds like "cashe". A Spain voice will not do this.
- Accent marks change the word. "Esta" (this) and "está" (is) are stressed differently, and so are "papa" (potato) and "papá" (dad). Text typed without accent marks, common in quick messages and chats, can be read with the stress on the wrong syllable.
- ¿Questions? ¡Exclamations! Spanish marks questions and exclamations at the start as well as the end. A good voice uses them to start the rising tone at the right moment.
- Vocabulary differs, the voice doesn't. A computer is an "ordenador" in Spain and a "computadora" in most of Latin America. The voice reads whatever word is written — it does not change Mexican text into Spain Spanish, it just pronounces it with its own accent.
Learning Spanish? Listen while you read
- 1Read along with the highlighting
Follow the highlighted words with your eyes. Hearing and seeing each word together helps connect spelling and pronunciation.
- 2Pick text just above your level
Ask an AI chat for a short Spanish text on a topic you like, at your level, then have Voq read it to you.
- 3Listen twice
Listen once without reading, then again while reading along. Note the words you missed the first time.

Spanish text to speech: FAQ
Is there a free Spanish text to speech reader?
Yes — Voq is free every day. It reads Spanish webpages aloud with a daily listening limit. The $2/month founding rate removes the limit.
How do I make Chrome read Spanish text aloud?
Add Voq, open the page and press play. Voq detects that the page is in Spanish and reads it in a Spanish voice.
What accent does Voq's Spanish voice have?
A Spain (Castilian) accent. If you need a Latin American accent specifically, Voq is not the right fit yet.
Can Voq turn Spanish text into an MP3?
No. Voq reads text aloud in your browser and has no audio export. For audio files, use a voice generator.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up to use Voq, and none to pay for the founding rate either.
Does Voq read the "th" sound in Spanish?
Yes — it reads with a Spain accent. So "z" and soft "c" sound like the English "th", as they do in most of Spain.
Can Voq help me learn Spanish?
It helps with listening and pronunciation. Voq reads Spanish aloud with word highlighting so you can follow along. It is not a course.
